Gratitude And Blessing Stone ---Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."~ Melody Beattie ~
Today's Etsy listing is a Gratitude Blessings Stone. I will be listing more in the days to come.
I firmly believe in counting your blessings every day. Granted, some days it is harder to do but...I still do it.
I love this latest batch of glass that came out of my kiln. I have been experimenting with different techniques to create bubbles and craters in the glass. It is a fun stone to touch and hold in your hand. I was inspired by the fact that Addison always claims the glass I do not find "perfect" enough to make a necklace out of. He carrys them around like they are treasure. It made me think of having a special stone to carry around. What could be more special than a blessings stone?

Favorite Quotes
Artists and poets try to recapture and recreate the wonder that we all remember feeling as children. Maybe that's why we are called visionary.
...By Marney Ward
Everyone needs an identity of their own, not in relation to someone else... someone's daughter, sister, wife, mother. "Artist" is mine alone.
...By Janet Badger
Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen.

How many years have you been an artist?
Too many and not enough! I started rubber stamping...did a little scrapbooking. Then I started sewing. That segued into art quilting. But after watching way too many Crafters Coast to Coast episodes I was hooked on fusing.
How many years have you worked with glass? I got my first kiln a litle over 2 years ago and haven't stopped since. These days I don't do much regular fusing as my kiln is usually full of the lampwork beads I make. I am truly hooked on bead making!
What triggers ideas for new projects? Anything and everything can trigger an idea. Sometimes I just love playing. Putting different squares of glass together to fuse. Or putting different colored glass rods together for beads.
When do ideas come to you? How often? The ideas can come anytime, anywhere. I need to get better with a sketch book so I can record more of my ideas. I keep thinking I will remember them. But I don't!
What percentage of the day do you think about or work on your art? It's summer and you would think I would have all day to work. But I am so busy driving my twins around in the turbo mini van that I feel like I spin through the day without accomplishing much.
Do you create daily? Not right now.
How important is it for you to create art? If I go too long without creating anything I get a little twitchy! I need to do something. This winter when it was too cold to work in The Studio (aka my garage) I discovered digital scrapbooking. So much better for me than regular traditional scrapbooking. It was a great way to fill the void. I also took a stained glass glass which then turned into a lust for mosaic.
Do you feel that choosing the artist¢s life has been a sacrifice? Have you given up certain luxuries? I've been blessed with a husband who is able to support us. I stopped working several years ago when the social service agency I was the executive director of closed due to lack of funding. I didn't start working with glass until after that. Also, I am so lucky because my husband thinks it's so cool to buy me tools. One Christmas it's a drill press. Then a ring saw for my birthday.
Describe your studio. I work in my garage. Right now I am working on getting ir re-organized so I can work. I was trying to put together a fusing project this past weekend and found myself tripping over everything! That's when I know it's time to clean.
Tell me something about you. I am married with 3 sons: 15 yo twins and a 9yo. We have 3 dogs and 3 cats. I am addicted to gadgets and tools, and believe you cannot have too many different colors of glass in your studio! I have also started dabbling in photography and am amazed that it's so much harder than it looks! Action photos are killing me!
